Can Fashion change the world?

Fashion has the ability to inspire, inform and document society. The 1920’s was an era that gave women suffrage. Fashion’s response was the flapper; with her pixie crop hair and trousers, this was true reflection of the radical changes that enabled female emancipation. That is the beauty of fashion. A force so powerful, that it motivated many to collaborate in the Queen Elizabeth Hall of the South bank center for the Vogue Festival.

Alexandra Shulman, the Editor in Chief of British Vogue began the seminar discussing why ethics and glamour should come together. She was joined by Dame Vivienne Westwood, Katherine Hammett, Livia Firth and Tom Craig. In light of the collapse of the clothing factory in Bangladesh, there was a universal recognition for the need for more care and consideration for ethical fashion.
